Dear Colleagues,
We have a great pleasure to invite everyone interested in different application of stable isotope techniques to the ESIR Isotope Workshop XV, which will take place on June, 23-27, 2019 in Lublin. Venue of the conference is the Victoria Hotel.
The conference is organized by the Mass Spectrometry Laboratory (Institute of Physics, Maria Curie-Skłodowska University, Lublin), Polish Geological Institute (National Research Institute, Warsaw) and the Lublin Branch of the Polish Physical Society.
ESIR 2019 is the fifteenth Workshop of the ESIR, in a series of scientific events that started in 1992 in Lublin, Poland and continued with Książ, Poland (1994), Budapest, Hungary (1996), Portorož, Slovenia (1998), Kraków, Poland (2000), Tallinn, Estonia (2002), Seggauberg, Austria (2004), Leipzig, Germany (2005), Cluj-Napoca, Romania (2007), Złotniki Lubańskie, Poland (2009), Budapest, Hungary (2011), Freiberg, Germany (2013), Zadar, Croatia (2015) and Baile Govora, Romania (2017).
During the Conference we would like to discuss the following topics related to the field of isotope research:
♦ General Isotope Geochemistry
♦ Geology and Paleoclimatology
♦ Ecology and Environmental Research
♦ Hydro(geo)logy
♦ Methods and Instrumental Techniques
♦ Inert gas and Radiogenic Isotopes
♦ Isotopes in Biology and Medicine
♦ Other Application of Isotopes
The interdisciplinary nature of the conference presents a unique opportunity for the exchange of information and promotes both collaborative and personal relationships amongst its participants. It provides first-hand opportunities to report advancements and innovations in a highly critical and stimulating environment.
Scientific program of the conference will include plenary lectures, oral presentations and posters.
Lectures, oral presentations and posters during the Conference will be in English.
To encourage young scientists and PhD students to present their best contributions, a panel of scientific experts will select the best oral presentations and posters presented to be awarded in the competition for the Best Presentation and Best Poster.
The participants will have also the opportunity, after the scientific meetings, to visit several interesting places in Lublin, administrative center of the voivodship, the capital of the Lublin Region, home to 365 thousand inhabitants and the biggest town in Eastern Poland.
The great history of Lublin starts in 1317 when Lublin was granted municipal status. In 1474 Lublin became
the capital of the voivodship, a role it has continuously played to this day. During the years of the first Republic,
Lublin, which was centrally located, was inhabited by different nationalities and religious denominations
that constituted a rich and varied community. Lublin is an academic center recognized in Poland and abroad,
with a rich educational offer.

Big size file (184 MB) suitable for printingYou may choose to send us an abstract or a manuscript of paper:
♦ Abstract: 1 to 2 pages
♦ Paper: max. 5 pages
If you wish to submit an abstract, then please download the abstract template.
Fill it out and send it to secretary@esir.org.pl
In case you wish to submit a manuscript of short paper (3-5 pages), use the same abstract template and send it to the above e-mail address.
We are also pleased to announce that papers from ESIR 2019 may also be published in one of the publications below:
1. Lyell Collection Geological Society Publications
In order to proceed with organisation, please send a title and authors of contribution to Andrzej Pelc or Ana-Voica Bojar until May 1st, 2019.
Deadline for contribution submission will be discussed during the meeting.
2. Isotopes in Environmental and Health Studies journal.
All participants are invited to submit a manuscript for publication.
Papers will be subjected to normal peer review procedure by the publisher.
Poster boards are in portrait format with a dimension of A0 size. All the material necessary (pins and tacks) for attaching the poster to the poster board is available at the facility desks in the poster area (the poster boards are also suitable for using adhesive tapes).

A lecture room assistant will be available for any help. The notebook in the lecture room is equipped with
the software of Windows 10, MS Office 2013, the newest version of Adobe Reader.
Dear Young Participants,
We announce the "Best poster presentation" and "Best oral presentation" competitions among those who are not older than 35 years. The jury will score the posters and presentations according to the following criteria (more or less the same as it was in the previous Workshops):
♦ overall impression
♦ clear description of the problem and the applied methods
♦ clear formulation of the conclusions
♦ background knowledge (members of the jury will ask questions to see how familiar the young researcher is with the topic of his/her poster)
The winners of the each competition will be awarded. The result of the competition will be announced during one of the conference dinners.

Lublin can be reached by a car, train, a coach or a plane. You can plan a car travel using location of Lublin from Google Maps. However, we encourage you to use public transportation services described below.
Warning! This year (and probably next) there will be a modernization of the railway tracks between Warsaw and Lublin and there may be obstacles in rail traffic.
Only main railway station in Lublin, Lublin Station serves trains running in the domestic range. There are direct connections from most large cities in Poland. For example, trains to Lublin depart from Warsaw (the capitol) approximately every two hours. You can check all possible connections using Rail Timetable. Most of the connections is operated by Polish State Railways (Polskie Koleje Państwowe, PKP) Intercity - TLK trains, but few of them are operated by Regional Transport (Przewozy Regionalne) - REG trains. You can buy tickets using:
The railway station is located about 2 km to the south-east from the conference venue (Victoria Hotel). You can get to the conference venue by:
A large part of inter-city coach connections to Lublin are provided by Lublin Bus Lines (Lubelskie Linie Autobusowe). There are also other companies like PolskiBus.com and many small companies using microbuses for passenger transportation. A coach or bus connection can be found using:
The coach station is located about 1 km to the north-east from the city center. You can get to the conference venue (the Victoria Hotel on Narutowicza st.) by:
The Lublin Airport offers several connections to Eureopean cities. The airport is located about 11 km to the east from the city center. You can get from the airport to Lublin by train, bus or taxi and then get to the conference venue (the Victoria Hotel) in one of the ways described above.
You may also arrive to another Polish airport. The largest number of connections is available to Warsaw Chopin Airport. Next you may continue your travel to Lublin by train or coach as described above.
Detailed instructions how to get from Warsaw Airport to the center of Lublin:
Accommodation costs are not included in the fee for participation in Isotope Workshops.
You can choose any of dozens of hotels, hostels and similar places of temporary residence
